Executive Director
CubaCaribe is looking for a hard-working, detail-oriented and enthusiastic professional with a passionate commitment and an awareness of the performing arts and cultural equity in the Bay Area, specifically Cuban and Caribbean. The position requires people skills as well as excellent writing, organization and research abilities. The candidate must be a capable self-starter who works well as an individual and in a small team. Position involves creative directing, production management, planning, leadership, marketing, communications, fundraising, researching and outreach.
Responsibilities

Fund Development:
-
Research and cultivate new sources of government, corporate, foundation and individual support
-
Support Grant writer with submission of grant letters of inquiry, budgets, proposals and reports
-
Plan and work fundraising events, including annual gala or similar event, and any other events agreed upon by the board. Hire appropriate staff, coordinate production, outreach, and follow-through

Maintain annual fundraising calendar and donation records- - tracking all development correspondence keep database of individual donors, perks, send receipts with tax id numbers and thank you

Financial Oversight:

Assist in preparation of financials quarterly and annually for bookkeeper

Create annual organizational budget with board treasurer

Create program specific budgets
-
Complete the annual Cultural Data Project profile and run reports for specific funders and complete annual budget notes

Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
-
Obtain necessary insurance and licenses for all the programming events and funders
-
Manage fiscally sponsored organizations as needed

Production:
-
Maintain annual artistic programming calendar
-
Co- create and manage all artistic programs and objectives, ensuring compatibility of program decisions with CubaCaribe’s mission

Secure insurance certificates and licenses for all venues,
-
Hire technicians & production staff
-
Manage front of house, back of house as needed
-
Manage ticketing platforms and comp lists
-

Board/Community Relations:
-
Assist in the onboarding of new Board members
-
Engage Board members in development and artistic activities
-
Attend all board meetings,maintain regular communication between Board and staff.

Hire and supervise staff
-
Create regular performance review / evaluation for independent contractors annually Maintain a climate that attracts and motivates a diverse team of quality people.

Represent CubaCaribe at public functions and to key constituents and community members.

Participate in community events and government conferences and meetings to further CubaCaribe’s goals and increase the awareness, visibility, influence and impact of the organization

Maintain sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups such as Community Music Center, Bissap Baobab, Cubita, La Peña, MoAD, CANA, La Mezcla, ODC Theater and Berkeley Rep.

Check in with artists we serve, establish new relationships

Oversight of brand identity in all communications, work with graphic designers, publicists, etc…

Qualifications
-
5+ years of prior non-profit arts development experience
-
Knowledge of Excellent writing, presentation, research and planning skills
-
Strong attention to detail and excellent administrative organizational abilities.

Experience in writing foundation, corporation, and individual grants and proposals
-
Ability to set goals and take ownership of duties
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Mail Chimp, Wix and Google drive. Experience with fundraising databases a plus.

Ability to meet deadlines, and prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a busy environment.
-
Possess superior interpersonal skills and be able to work successfully with colleagues, donors, volunteers, and staff.

Knowledge in the performing arts, dance, and/or education and connection to Afro-Cuban dance.

Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for events. May need to work one day in late December to process year-end gifts, depending on timing and staffing needs.

Administrative Assistant
We are looking for an individual with a strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities able to set goals and take ownership of duties. Individual will assist & report to ED and Board President to carry out the tasks related to development, production and organizational stability.
Responsibilities

Creation in the development and content of marketing materials per brand guide

Assist with funder outreach and communication- invites to events, newsletters
-
Assist organizing the Annual fundraising benefit campaign/event- Provide staff support and outreach and execute logistics and hospitality as needed.

Assist on site artistic programming/events- front of house, box office, concessions, info table
-
In-kind donation solicitation & follow up – outreach, pick up, thank you

Video editing for grant samples

Maintain Vimeo site- editing, labeling and uploading videos to archive
-
Maintain Smugmug site- re-sizing, labeling and uploading photographs to archive
-
Create and send out emails on a schedule via Mailchimp
-
Import contacts from website and hard copy surveys to our Mailchimp as needed
-
Update website via Wix as needed
-
Manage & update key documents- find, label and organize bi-annually – funders list, press list, arts activities list, grant work samples list, etc..

Assist with social media updates- Facebook, Instagram
-
Check email general inbox and respond to emails accordingly
-
Set up events and activities in Humanitix ticketing platform
-
Create artist contracts and invoices as necessary

Manage community partners cross-promotion agreements
Qualifications
-
2+ years of prior development experience in non-profit arts environment
-
Excellent writing, presentation, research and planning skills
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Mail Chimp, Wix, Paypal and Google drive. Experience with fundraising databases a plus.

Ability to meet deadlines, and prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a busy environment.

Possess superior interpersonal skills and be able to work successfully with colleagues, donors, volunteers, and staff.

Knowledge of communities of color and Latinx/Caribbean and an interest in the performing arts, dance, and/or education is preferred. Spanish speaking a plus.

Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for events.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience: 10-15 hrs/week @ $28/hr
